‘My Mother’s Resurrection’ —Carved by Robert Butters

“And just as the Phoenix rose from the ashes, she too will rise, returning from the flames, clothed in nothing, but her freedom & strength and more beautiful than ever before.”

About Renee Butters

Aaniin! Hello and welcome.

My name is Renee Butters, and my Anishinaabe name is Awanishbaasin, meaning “The Breath of the Spirits.” I am a descendant of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, a citizen of the White Earth Nation.

For more than four decades, I have worked in health and wellness, supporting individuals, families and communities in reconnecting with their inherent capacity for healing and well-being.

The name She Heals Noojimo Noojimo’iwe reflects the heart of my work. In Ojibwe, it means “She heals, She heals others.”

Over time, I have come to understand that healing is never something we do alone. As we heal ourselves, we create pathways for healing within our families, communities and future generations.

My own journey has been shaped by both challenge and transformation. Like many, I have walked through experiences of trauma, loss and adversity. Those experiences ultimately became an invitation into deeper healing and a profound remembering of who I am.

Today, my work brings together Indigenous wisdom, healing traditions, land-based practices and decades of experience in health and wellness. Whether through circles, community gatherings, presentations, Reiki training or healing experiences with horses, my intention is to create spaces where people feel seen, supported and connected.

Over the years, I have learned that healing is not about becoming someone new. It is about remembering who we are beneath the layers of pain, fear, conditioning and life experiences that may have caused us to lose our way.

I see my role as that of a guide, teacher and companion on that journey. In many ways, I serve as a midwife for healing and transformation, helping others navigate life’s transitions, reconnect with their innate wisdom and step more fully into the life they are meant to live.

It is an honor to walk alongside those who feel called to remember their strength, reclaim their voice and reconnect with the gifts they carry within.

Miigwech for being here.

“From the moment I first met her and we discussed my needs, to the warm welcome I received the day of our meeting, I felt nothing but love, kindness and compassion from her. Her gift has been instrumental in helping me to identify how I begin my journey to healing.”
